A Travel Guide to Santorini, Greece

  • May 26, 2019

Seeing Santorini on various travel blogs does no justice to the actual natural wonder this island is – It is the remnant of a volcanic caldera caused by one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history. Much of the caldera is water-filled today and the island forms the edge of the caldera. From every angle, this island shows off that natural beauty more than anything; more than any white washed centre or blue domes.

Stay – We stayed at Galini Oia Pension which is just a walk away from the centre of Oia.
Public Transportation – KTEL buses run frequently between the Airport, Fira and Oia.

There’s no list of things to do in Santorini – it’s pretty much about walking here and there, soaking the beauty of the place, and finding hidden gems.

Walk through the centre of Oia

From L-R Galaktoboureko, Baklava and Portokalopita at Melenio; Gyro at Pitogyros; Fava, Domatokeftedes, Spanakopita, Tzatziki at Skala

Walk through the centre of Fira

The BEST views of the caldera are from Fira

Spot Oia at the very end!

L – R : Moussaka at Naoussa; Greek Yoghurt at Chillbox; Loukoumades at Lukumum

Visit the Amoudi Bay

200 steps below the town of Oia, you will find Amoudi Bay.
