  • Scalp/Shampoo brush for shampooing and co-washing

When I first started co-washing, I realized the importance of massaging your scalp to get rid of dirt and impurities. In short, a motion is required along with a dirt “remover” ingredient. Just pouring a product on your scalp will not clean it. It’s the rubbing motion that lifts dirt and oil. As an added benefit, the massaging also promotes blood circulation to scalp leading to healthier hair.

To aid in scalp massaging, a shampoo brush or a scalp brush is a great help. They are brushes with thick rubber or plastic bristles. The bristles should be thick so as to give a soothing massaging feeling rather than a pricky feeling.

Here are 2 shampoo brushes in India

  1. Shampoo Massage Brush Soft(The one I use)
  2. Kent Unique Waterproof Scalp Massage Shampoo Brush

How to use a shampoo brush

  • Apply the shampoo/co wash conditioner thoroughly on your scalp
  • Hold the brush, place it on a part of your head and start massaging your hair in circles
  • To move to the next part, lift the brush up and place it again. Do not drag the brush on the scalp as it will lead to tangles.
  • After you are done covering your whole head, proceed to rinse as usual.
  • Shampoo brushes are great for removing build up and giving a great massage to the scalp.

I used head and shoulders shampoo, loreal intense smooth conditioner and set wet cool hold gel, I skipped conditioning cream, because I can’t able to afford it, is there any alternate way for conditioning cream

Have you seen the list of budget products? List of curly hair products in India (for every budget) You can also leave in Enliven or Oriflame as a leave in conditioner.

Haha looks like you found what you wanted. You can also use your regular brush after dry detangling before your wash if you feel this brush doesn’t remove all flakes during wash.

Hello anjana.. This is what I m waiting for. I also got to knw my hair type(2c). Thnk u Bt I m confused about shampoo. Plz, give me some suggestions and if I do cowashing then which conditioner should I use??

Hi Anjana

I guess I got 2b/c and 3a hair. My hair suddenly has changed from straight to wavy/curly. Your blog has been a real help in me figuring out what to do.

I had ordered a shampoo brush but was sent a Tangle Teezer instead. Can I use this as a shampoo brush?

Yes you could if you like how it feels on your scalp 🙂

Anjana,

I tried using this during my cowashing with wella professional conditioner for sensitive hair. this made my hair very tangled and also frizzy in the crown after air dry. what did i do wrong ? 🙁

Did you not detangle and condition after cowashing?

I am going to try cg method Anjana. Thanks for sharing so much useful information 🙂
