Readers Diary - Bhavya Rani

Bhavya Rani: Readers’ Diary includes some of my beautiful readers who’ve had a curly hair transformation after following the Curly Hair Routine. A whole section dedicated to my readers.

“I always loved my curly hair, never hated them. But was always searching for ways to maintain them. I never knew I was partially following the CG method. I stopped combing my hair and clipped it. But never knew any products to use. I tried using a gel to keep my hair in place but never knew how much gel to use. My hair looked beautifully curly when wet. I always wanted that look.
Anjana was the first curly hair girl I saw one day while browsing through. I was initially captured by her beauty and started checking her profile, but then when I came to know her hair is natural, I was awestruck and started reading her blogs and saw her videos. I had never thought curly hair maintenance is so easy and beautiful. When I showed Anjana’s hair pics to my sister she was like ‘Nahhhh that’s all fake’. I tried convincing her but she didn’t believe me.
I went on reading her blogs for about a month, noted down the products I would need, and bought them. I had to experiment a lot to find the right amount of product, technique, and correct products that suit me. Just scrunching never worked for me. Ultimately raking and brush styling helped me. That’s what I follow to this day. It took about 6 months to properly see the results. I didn’t know the balance between protein and moisture, I experimented heavily with my hair. tried any products, but always within budget. Initially, when my mom saw the care I take on my hair she said ‘Only if you also eat well and take care of your inner body will your hair shine from outside’. That’s when I started taking care of my diet as well. That’s what helped me most in my healthy hair today.

My curly hair routine

  1. Shampoo: I dilute shampoo in water and use it to lather well on the scalp. Massage well and rinse off. I don’t use much shampoo on my lengths. I use Giovanni tee tree triple treat shampoo
  2. Conditioner: I use a good amount of conditioner in praying hands motion for all my hair and once complete hair is covered in conditioner I start detangling it with my hands first and then with a wide-tooth comb. I use Giovanni tee tree triple treat conditioner for this. The slip is amazing and leaves hair so smooth.
  3. Leave-in: I take a small amount of leave-in to emulsify well on my hands, and I add a little bit of water to that, and then rake it on my hair. I am currently using Ashba leave-in.
  4. Curl cream: I take a small amount emulsify it on my hand with water and rake it in. I use Cantu curl cream for this. Though I love this curl cream I get dandruff when the product touches my scalp. So I am very careful in applying this so as not to touch the scalp at all.
  5. Gel: I rake in a very small amount of gel and then do brush styling using my wide tooth comb itself. I section my hair comb it and then shake it. Once I am done with all the sections I take a little more amount of gel and scrunch it with my hair flipped down. This is the only time I flip my hair forward as the back of my hair doesn’t sit properly if I do the styling with my hair flipped in front. I scrunch enough flipping my hair on all sides at end of my product applications and then air dry or use a diffuser as per requirement. I use Ashba Gel.

Cant thank Anjana enough for introducing me to this wonderful hair journey which I am absolutely in love with. Thanks a lot Anjana.”
