” The tagline on Anjana’s Instagram page, “I fell in β‘ with my curls after years of hating them.YOU can too!” gave me so much hope. I hated my curls too, and it brought out a totally different possibility into my perspective. Talking to you through DM, you appeared like a guiding angel.Β The cg terms like co wash,pre-poo,sotc etc. were made clear to me as a beginner through the blog.Β The list of curly hair products available online on websites like amazon.in, India made it look within reach and not just some foreign, improbable and approachable trend.

A mousse is a lighter form of a gel, without much hold

Hi Anjana..I have type 2c 3A hair type..I started following your curly hair routine. I was using cantu shea leave in creme but it hardened my hair.Thinking about protein sensitivity, I switched to a protein free African pride shea butter cream. But this is also hardening my hair. I shampoo twice a week. I wash my hair daily with condtioner and apply the african pride cream after that. Could you please suggest what am I doing wrong or what products should I try. I have read your blog on product types but am unable to decide whether to go for protein free or protein contained one’s. Please help..π

That hardening is not related to protein. Did you scrunch out the crunch? If not, check this post https://www.curlsandbeautydiary.com/curly-hair-gels-everything-you-need-to-know/

Hi Anjana,
Good to be back again. Lovely post as usual. The after effects looks fabulous. Just a few days back, I was looking for virgin coconut oil in the market. However, I wasn’t able to get it. I am glad I found the link in your post.
Thanks for sharing, have a great day. π

Hey..Please guide me on silicone quarternium -25 and 16 as ingredient …Is it water soluble.not able to find about this ingredient..thanks
Anjana

16 is not water soluble. I’d assume 25 is not too because it is higher in number, but didn’t find any info on it. But I am almost 99% sure it is not water soluble.

Hi!! So I wanted to start on my curly hair journey for long-term.
I currently use a Cantu leave-in conditioner with oils to make it a deep conditioner, wash my hair with a shea moisture shampoo and deva curl conditioner, then use the squish to consist method in the shower and use deva curl gel after. Do you recommend other products or tips for starting out? I find that my hair is 2b/ 2c and low porosity and the upper half of my head loses the curls after a day or so. Whatβs a good simple routine to make my hair healthier and how many times a week do you recommend washing it? Thanks!!
Anjana

For 2b/2c + low porosity, I wouldn’t recommend something like Cantu or heavy oils. I’d suggest to get the full Devacurl line for wavies. I wash twice a week- it depends on your activity level, scalp health among other things so it’s best to wash when you feel like π

Hi! I’ve been struggling with really bad knots and my hair is not moisturized enough. The tangles occur in the middle part of the clumps, not towards the end. My routine goes like this: oiling, shampoo, conditioner (which doubles up as leave-in) and sometimes fsg. Please help me!!

Which conditioner is it? What’s your curl type, coarseness and porosity?
Amrita

I use L’oreal smooth intense conditioner. Recently, I’ve been using Matrix hydrasource mask as a conditioner as it has more slip and moisture. Hair type is 3a-3b. I have coarse hair. Porosity: High

What about leave in?
Amrita
August 15, 2018 at 6:17 pm
I use the conditioner or the mask as leave-in.
Anjana

How much do you leave in?
Amrita
August 16, 2018 at 4:27 pm
I use around half a palmful of conditioner. I leave in around 80-90% of the conditioner.

Hi… What’s your routine after you stopped using sulphate and silicone. Your old posts are now confusing me. I don’t use heat for styling and haven’t done any chemical treatment on my hair for years now. I do colour my hair as I have like 30 to 40% grey hair. Now I am trying to start your routine, hope it works for me. Had nice long curly hair but got it chopped of just a couple of weeks ago. My problem was I was unable to tame my hair so it looked dry damaged from the ends. Some days the curls used to look beautiful and most of the days dry frizzy, so I ended chopping it off real short. Came across your site while I was looking for ways to set my asymmetrical bob. I have to say I love the way you are explaining things but am failing to find your latest routine .
