“I always loved my curls, but they were frizzy and I didn’t know how to maintain them. I didn’t know that I shouldn’t comb curly hair. One fine day, I have come across your page on Instagram and then started following your blog. And that helped me a lot in the transformation 🙂
- I oil before every hair wash – Oils and curly hair – Benefits, types and ways to apply
- Shampoo with Chik shampoo
- Apply revlon flex conditioner and rinse it off
- Apply Garnier ultra blends soy and almonds conditioner and do squish to condish
- After washing my hair while it’s very wet, I take aloe vera gel or flaxseed gel and rub it between my palms then scrunch my hair.
- I take a tee shirt and scrunch
- Then I take a coin sized amount of coconut oil and again scrunch the hair
- Plop for about 20 minutes and then air dry

Hi Anjana, I have started CGM since 5th August. And my curls are forming but these are kind of messy. Please advice. I am so much inspired by your page.

Hi, I can’t wait to try this! Do you have any other shampoos you like? I can’t find Chik in the US. Also, do you ever brush/comb your hair at any point?
Thanks!

You can use any shampoo. I don’t think she combs her hair at any point.

Hi .. Firstly i loved all the posts n its very easy for a starter. I just started my cg 2 weeks with just basic shampooing n a conditioner n aloe gel.. N a weekly rice water rinse seems ok but no defined curls.. I have wavy 2a type fine hair n quite dry n frizzy hair
Ive now switched to wow acv shampoo , loreal instense conditioner n the aloe gel .
I wld like to add a curling cream to my routine before gel.. Is the order right after condish wash use a creame n gel n leave for air dry?

I’m just starting to get into haircare and my hair looks EXACTLY like Kamalas “before” photo. Looking around online I always see people with “1 year progress photo” or “6 months progress” with their curls and I’m a little confused. Does it take all that time because it takes hair time to adjust to a new method, or is it a matter of just finding the products that bring out your curls that takes so long ?

Thank you for giving an alterntive to bought products. I live in Sweden where all the products suggested on other curly sites are not available or very expensive. I have jojoba oil, argon oil, avocado oil at home and now finally understand at what stage I should use them. With your method I don’t have to buy a cowash just oil in before washing and then continue on. Great idea with aloe vera oil, have 3 plants we use this wonderful plant for all kinds of remedies and flaxseed I am definitely going to whip up. I love Shea moisture products which I can get at a reasonable price here. But unfortunately haven’t been getting enough moisture in my fine type 2b hair.

Hi Marsha, do keep in mind that using oils and butters can cause hair to look greasy, especially fine wavy hair.

Hi.. My hair looks exactly like that of Kamala’s.. But I am suffering from very heavy hair fall.. and having dandruff issues too.. coz of this my hair looks so limp after I use all products.. my scalp is literally visible..😪I am using wow anti-dandruff shampoo n conditioner.. Use Ashba leave-in.. Squish to condish and then apply coin cantu curl activator, followed by aloevera gel.. Let it air dry.. what change do u suggest?

Deepthi, fluff/massage your roots all over once your hair is 100% dry
