Readers’ Diary includes some of my beautiful readers who’ve had a curly hair transformation after following the Curly Hair Routine. A whole section dedicated to my readers.
So here’s a big shoutout to all my lovely readers – I would love it if you can share photos of your curly hair’s before & after, how the blog has helped you and a paragraph about your routine and products. Send them to info@curlsandbeautydiary.com
“I stumbled upon your blog via Instagram. I have always had 2c-3a curly hair that became unmanageable when I was a teenager and didn’t know what to do with it, so I would wash it every morning, scrape it back in a ponytail, plait or bun and gel down the frizzy crown bits. I would also try to brush it to smooth it out – with predictably bad results! I started twisting it in sections to dry at about 16 and that worked quite well but was usually too flat at the crown and I didn’t like the look of it as I got older. After this, I would usually put on a curl cream or a smoothing serum and let it dry naturally, never knowing how it was going to turn out (often frizzy). I also straightened it a lot and got more and more highlights between ages 17-27! This killed my curls quite a lot, of course, so I let the colour grow out, before eventually getting more subtle highlights, and using Olaplex to help repair the damage. Since discovering your blog, I have been more excited about having curly hair and really happy with the coily, volumised effect I get! I’ve shared it with at least 5 other curly girls I know!
Products: Shea moisture Extra moisture retention shampoo, Shea moisture Restorative conditioner, and Shea moisture Curling gel souffle. I have also tried Ogx coconut oil spray on day 2-3 hair but I’m not sure about it yet.
Routine: Following your blog post!
- Shampoo gently just at the top of my head, then coat my hair with conditioner (using loads more than I used to!) and detangling with fingers or a wide comb, leaving it on for about 5 minutes – How to wash & condition curly hair
- Then bend forwards and use the squish to condish method, then rinse my hair while scrunching, and leave in about 10% of conditioner.
- I then squish it again and while it’s still soaking wet, scrunch in about half a palmful of gel.
- I use a couple of old tshirts to scrunch most of the water out, then plop in a tshirt for 20 mins to an hour, then let it air dry.
- I then don’t touch it until I scrunch out the crunch when it’s completely dry! “
