PhotoDiary – Onam 2019

  • September 11, 2019

Wishing you all a very Happy Onam!

Living in the Netherlands for the last 1 year has made me miss India, and especially Kerala like I’ve never felt before. I never used to care so much for the traditions or culture of Kerala. Of late, I have been enticed by Kerala and its beauty like never before and so I had decided that I would embrace it in every way possible – Kerala saree, jewellery, Onam, the tiled sloping roofs (Odu), the rains, the moss on walls, tiny non commercial temples, the food.

This PhotoDiary kind of sums up all of that. I initially intended to do this shoot in the ambalakulam (temple pond) of Cochin Devaswom temple in Mattanchery. But on reaching there we found out that you need to take prior permission to shoot there. Right opposite to the temple we found a dilapidated building and I instantly fell in love with it. We later found out that it was Hari Shenoy’s Bungalow which was being restored but the restoration stopped midway.

Kerala saree – The saree is hand painted by my mother. Please DM me on Instagram for orders/customization.

Hair Routine – Washed with Let’s Curl Up shampoo, conditioned with Re’equil conditioner and scrunched in a good amount of L’Oréal Homme Gel. In high humid weather like in Kerala, skipping a leave in and using a good hard hold gel works wonders for me.

Outside the compound of the bungalow. A newfound sense of beauty in the fallen coconut tree and moss on the walls

Hi Anjana,

Wish you a very Happy Onam!. God bless!! By the way you are looking amazing. Great clicks.

Hey Anjana,
I have been following you for almost a year now and I really love the way your hair looks😘.. I started CG method a year ago and almost nothing worked until recently. Lately I figured out my mistakes and I really know to style my hair now. BUT BUT BUT curly hair in India was a disaster for me. I was not using a gel and did not use glycerine free products last time (may be a few reasons). But do you have more tips for me just for Styling in Kerala ? I have 2c/3a low porosity hair, balanced protein moisture , I guess so ..😂 I still don’t know whether my hair coarse/ fine

Hey Febin, if it’s humid, I suggest skipping leave ins and using only a humectant free gel

Your hair looks stunning, Anjana!

Thank you Rajashree 🙂
