I have tried umpteen products labeled as being perfect for curly hair but more often than not ended up disappointed. The bottom line – there aren’t any special cleansing or conditioning ingredients created only for curly hair. Curly hair tends to be drier and more prone to damage. So what we should do is use products that are designed for dry or damaged hair. Use products that are labelled with words like Hydrating, Moisturizing and Repairing. Here is the list curly hair care products that I use.
These are the curly hair care products that I am currently using. I don’t like them all but these are the ones that currently sit on my shelf. I have included mini reviews of each. Here’s a List of curly hair products in India
-
Shampoo
-
JASON Dandruff Relief Treatment Shampoo
It clears dandruff very well, is made up of natural ingredients, is SLS free and doesn’t dry hair at all. The only thing I hate is that it has an extremely strong smell of sulphur. You can buy it here.
-
Regular Conditioners
-
Suave Professionals Almond and Shea Butter Moisturizing Conditioner
It provides amazing hydration, definition and bounce to curls, detangles hair easily, controls frizz and fly-a-ways and smells fabulous. You can buy it here.
-
Free From Frizz Blowout Mango Conditioner For Thick Coarse Hair
Oh how I love the cute milk bottle! It controls frizz to a beautiful degree and has a yummy mango milk shake smell that lingers for long. The conditioner doesn’t spread easily on hair, slip is poor and is not a good detangler.
-
OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner
It is not that great in terms of hydration, doesn’t have a great slip in spite of being thick and thus detangling isn’t that easy, doesn’t give my curls much definition, doesn’t control frizz to the degree that I want. The only thing good I guess is that it smells of tropical coconutty goodness. You can buy it here.
-
BBlunt Intense Moisture Conditioner
It has a superb two-material packaging that makes squeezing out the product extremely easy. It is a very good detangler, defines curls but isn’t as hydrating as I want it to be and causes frizz. Not a fan of the smell either. You can buy it here.g
-
Deep conditioners/masks
-
Argan Deluxe Argan Oil Nutrition Infusing Mask
Oh how I adore this product! It makes hair soft, defines curls beautifully, makes them bouncy, hydrates hair very well, easily detangles hair and controls frizz and fly-a-ways.
-
Organix Argan Oil and Shea Butter Moisture Restore Mask
Same as the above!! Which makes me realise how very good argan oil is for curly hair. This smells great too (like all OGX products).
-
Styling products
-
L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni Art Hairmix Sublime Shine
It controls frizz to a small extent and imparts moderate shine and gloss. But it doesn’t hydrate hair as much I want it to and doesn’t define curls too well.
-
FX Special Effects Curls Up Curl Reactivator and Defrizzant
I don’t like this one at all. It claims to be a defrizzant and instead of preventing frizz, it induces frizz to non-frizzy hair. Despite being a reactivator, it gives no definition to the curls.
-
OGX Moroccan Curling Perfection Defining Cream
It defines curls quite well, smells great, doesn’t make hair crunchy and is non-sticky. But it controls frizz and fly-a-ways to a limited degree only and is not very hydrating. You can buy it here.

Hey.. Nice blog! I am big fan of your curls.. (seen you a couple of times in infy). I have shoulder length extremely thin hair which is wavy towards the ends i used to have good curls once upon a time but these days it is a complete mess. I am currently using boutique anti hair fall shampoo and a biotique hair serum after that. Do you recommend biotique? Also where would I get the hair products you mentioned in mysore?

Hey Betina. Thanks for the comment!! Which conditioner do you use? I buy most of my products online (flipkart, Amazon, Nykaa, purplle etc.). I have seen just 1 or 2 of these products available at local stores and salons.

Hello Anjana..
I’m glad I came across this post. I absolutely love the fragrance of the Suave conditioner – I tried the shampoo+conditioner version of it once when I was visiting a cousin who got it from somewhere abroad. I did not remember the name but that picture finally rang a bell. Any idea where I can buy it?

Hey Bhavya! I had seen it on amazon once. Don’t know if it’s still available though.

Hi again Anjana! Can we use Suave Professionals conditioner as a leave-in? I tried it as a conditioner and as a leave-in, it seemed fine the 2 times I used. But I’m asking since I was wondering if that was too heavy a product to be used as a leave-in.

There are no such rules 🙂 If your hair likes it, do use it as a leave in all you like 😁 😃
