Ingredient Analysis
Ingredients after the first 5 to 8 ingredients are in negligible amounts and can be ignored if you are not trying to avoid any ingredient in particular.

  • Water
  • Glycerin – Humectant
  • Polyquaternium-11 – Cationic Polymer Providing Light Hold
  • Dehydroxanthan Gum – Film Forming Humectant that doesn’t flake like Xanthan Gum
  • PVP – Great Film Former. Tricky in Humid Weather
  • Panthenol – Humectant
  • Wheat Amino Acids – Protein
  • Phenoxyethanol – Preservative

Performance
+ Got such amazing beautiful bouncy curls with this gel
+ Non flaky gel
+ It’s very lightweight
+ Gave a beautiful gel cast which was easily removed with SOTC
– Would have liked more hold
– It is a bit sticky
– Smells masculine

Mixed Chicks Morning After Redefining Foam

“Here’s the solution for flat, dull, next day hangover hair! No need to rewash, instead energize those curls. Reshape, redefine, boost next day hair.”

Results of Mixed Chicks Morning After Redefining Foam

Price: $14.99. You can buy it here -#CommissionsEarned

Ingredient Analysis
It has only 8 ingredients! What a clean list.

  • Water
  • Cocamidopropyl Betaine – This is a mild surfactant found in shampoos. In a mousse, it helps form a thick foam (since this is not in an aerosol can)
  • Glycerin – Humectant
  • Phenoxyethanol – Preservative
  • Xanthan Gum – Film forming humectant
  • VP/VA Copolymer – Great film former
  • Ethylhexylglycerine – Preservative
  • Parfum

Performance
I took about 3-4 pumps of the mousse and scrunched it directly to day 2 or day 3 dry hair. Diffused for 5 minutes.
+ Ultra-light weight refresher for day 2 and 3 curls (I haven’t used it beyond that). Doesn’t weigh hair down at all.
+ Reshapes and revitalizes limp curls
+ Provides a teeny bit of a cast to hold the curls till they dry fully (which is usually within 10-15 minutes)
– Can be a bit drying especially if you go overboard with the quantity.
– Can feel sticky and product-y and make your hair frizzy, again if you go overboard with the quantity.

Mixed Chicks Conditioning Cleansing Co-Wash

“This creamy, no lather cleanser is a revitalizing shampoo alternative that uses jojoba and castor oils to restore strength and flexibility for easy detangling. Hydrates, removes impurities, detangles.”

Price: $13.00. You can buy it here -#CommissionsEarned

Ingredient Analysis
Ingredients after the first 5 to 8 ingredients are in negligible amounts and can be ignored if you are not trying to avoid any ingredient in particular.

  • Water
  • Cetearyl Alcohol – Emollient, Softens hair
  • Behentrimonium Chloride – Cationic Surfactants, they smooth the cuticle and have mild cleansing properties
  • PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil – Water soluble hydrogenated form of Castor Oil
  • Phenoxyethanol – Preservative
  • Coconut Oil
  • Wheat Germ Oil
  • Castor Oil

Performance
This is the 1st product that I used for cowashing which was created for cowashing. I usually just cowash with light conditioners
+ Leaves hair clean yet shiny
+ It is not at all heavy in spite of having so much oil. That meant that hair was left super moisturized post wash
+ It is creamy and not thick which is usually the problem I have with using rich conditioners as cowash
+ Didn’t feel the need to condition again after rinsing it off
– Would have liked more slip (though that’s kinda ok because it is a cowash, not a detangling conditioner)

Mixed Chicks Slick Styling Tamer

“This pomade provides edge taming and sleek styling for sophisticated buns, ponytails, up-dos, faux hawks and more! Great for edges, extra firm hold.”

Price: $9.00. You can buy it here -#CommissionsEarned

Ingredient Analysis
Ingredients after the first 5 to 8 ingredients are in negligible amounts and can be ignored if you are not trying to avoid any ingredient in particular.

  • Water
  • Ceteareth-25 – Emulsifier
  • Glycerin – Humectant
  • PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil – Water soluble hydrogenated form of Castor Oil
  • PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate – Emollient, Conditioning effect
  • Polyquaternium-11 – Cationic Polymer providing light hold
  • Sodium Benzoate – Preservative
  • Potassium Sorbate – Preservative

Performance
I used this to slick back and tame baby hair and fly aways on day 2 and day 3 hair after refreshing
+ Controls baby hair and fly aways
– Be very careful with the quantity. You only need about 1-2 finger rubs from the tub. This is not a gel. Do not use more. Or you will end up with sticky stiff greasy hair.

Mixed Chicks Daily Hair Dress

“This oil infused creation rejuvenates dry, brittle hair by adding continuous moisture and repairing split ends. It works wonders for moms styling ponytails, braids and curls. Conditions, repairs split ends, moisturize for healthier finish.”

Price: $12.99. You can buy it here -#CommissionsEarned

Ingredient Analysis
Ingredients after the first 5 to 8 ingredients are in negligible amounts and can be ignored if you are not trying to avoid any ingredient in particular

  • Water
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Safflower Oil
  • Cetearyl Alcohol – Emollient, Softens hair
  • Glyceryl Stearate – Emollient, Softens hair
  • PEG-100 Stearate – Emollient, Softens hair
  • Glycerin – Humectant
  • Avocado Oil

Performance
I was really confused about this product. It is very high on oils and lower on emollients and cationic surfactants. So it wouldn’t be suitable as a leave in. But I used it as a leave in nevertheless. It weighed my hair down.

Then I tried it as a deep conditioner because of its fatty content. Though the slip isn’t great, after I washed it off my hair looked really shiny.

It would also work with tighter curl types which are drier and also won’t get weighed down for this. It can be used to smooth over any particularly dry or frizzy areas.

Mixed Chicks Curl Sculptor

“This light curl definer uses pro vitamin B5 for a weightless, fast drying formula that’s perfect for a natural style or free-flowing look. Fast drying, elongates curl, moisturizes. Perfect for rod and roller sets.”

  • Water

  • Glycerin – Humectant
  • Xanthan Gum – Film Forming Humectant which has a tendency to flake
  • Castor Oil
  • Polysorbate 20 – Preservative
  • Fragrance
  • Phenoxyethanol – Preservative

Performance
I didn’t like anything about this product apart from the cast it gave 😐
– Flaked quite a bit
– The product itself looked split
– Weighed down my hair a bit
– Gave me thin wispy clumps as opposed to fat juicy ones
– Not much hold

Mixed Chicks Coil, Kinks & Curl Styling Cream

“This cream uses six nourishing oils to help hair retain moisture while making styling easy. Use for wash & go, finger styling, two strand twists, coils and spirals. Conditions, retains moisture and promotes growth. Very good for thicker, fuller textures.”

– Made it frizzy

Thanks Farzana 🙂

Hi Anjana,

I am new to your blog and finding it really helpful.

My hair is 2c/3a hair type. I’m looking for some advice though, as I have A LOT of hair but it must be fine because it can get weighed down easily and look a bit limp.

The hair around my face is bouncy curls and then the hair underneath is flat, like ‘slept-on hair’, limp waves. The hair at the back of the head/crown frizzes a lot and is honestly ‘straw-like’ to touch in parts, although the hair on top of it is just really long ringlets.

HELP.

I can send you photos to an email address for product advice?

Thanks, Lori

Hi Lori, 2c-3a hair can get flat and elongated with length. That’s just how it is 🙂 And that’s why layers helps to mask the flat hair underneath.

Hi sista
Kindly review onasbha leave in and gel.
