Paid Collaboration with The Ayurveda Experience

When I came across the Hair Oils by The Ayurveda Experience, the first thing that struck me about the brand was something I saw on their website –  “We believe in showing ALL our ingredients, not just ‘KEY INGREDIENTS’ to you beforehand! Here’s the complete list of ingredients for you to review”.

I have been preaching about checking ingredients list for a long time. And also, how most herbal companies don’t reveal the full list. The transparency really impressed me!

The Ayurveda Experience have 4 hair oils from their 100% natural brand, Varaasa, which is based on traditional inherited Ayurveda. Going through the ingredients list impressed me, there are no artificial fragrances or synthetic nasties.  Let’s take a look at them one by one, so that you can pick one according to your individual needs.

Kalaunya Black-Seed Root-Boost Hair Potion

I love how the pamphlet shows ladies with curly hair 🙂

I instantly smelt strong black seed/cumin when I removed the packaging of this one. I’ve mentioned about black seed oil/nigella sativa in the oil blend in my hair growth post. Kalaunya Black-Seed Root-Boost Hair Potion comes with that and much more for stimulating hair growth. It is quite a thick oil. Pump some oil into different areas of your scalp. Use your fingertips to spread the oil all over the scalp and massage your scalp well. You can also use 2-3 pumps of the oil on your hair for softer stronger hair. Wait for at least 30 minutes and wash and style as usual.

Ingredients – Rice Bran Oil, Sesame Oil, Coconut Oil, Black Seed Oil (Nigella sativa), Cow’s Milk, Amla, Bhringraj, Liquorice, Cedarwood Oil, Clove Oil, Lemon Oil and Water.

Price – Rs. 599.00 for 100ml. You can buy it here. Please use the one-time code CBD10 for a 10% discount.

Rukshamya Scalp Saving Hair Softener – Anti-Dandruff Hair Oil

It is a very light oil, made up of ingredients like neem, amla and rosemary that are known to fight dandruff. Rukshamaya maintains oil balance on the scalp and nourishes rough/coarse hair. As this oil is for the scalp, use 2-3 pumps of this oil to massage your scalp. I tend to get some dandruff patches randomly once in a while so I also like to spot treat them with the oil. Wait for 30 minutes and wash and style as usual. The oil has turmeric and can stain yellow, so do remember to wear some old clothes before using this to prevent staining them like I did :P.

Ingredients – Sesame Oil, Coconut Oil, Vetiver, Neem Leaf & Bark, Amla, Haritaki, Bibhitaki (the 3 make up the famous Triphala), Turmeric, Tree Turmeric, Bhunimba, Water QS, Lime Oil, Orange Oil, Rosemary Oil

Price – Rs. 599.00 for 100ml. You can buy it here. Please use the one-time code CBD10 for a 10% discount.

Emblaj Scalp Nurturer Volumising Hair Oil

The Emblaj oil is almost like an all-rounder hair oil and helps prevent pre-mature greying and is the oil of choice for those who are facing loss of hair, volume and strength. So if you don’t have any specific hair concerns and are just looking for an overall hair oil, this is your best bet. It can be used on the scalp and length. Because it doesn’t have coconut oil, it is the lightest oil of the lot and 1-2 drops can also be used as a leave-in serum after washing and styling. Because it contains peppermint, you can also use it to refresh your scalp after a sweaty workout.

Ingredients – Sesame Oil, Cow Milk, Amla, Bhringraj, Liquorice, Fenugreek, Peppermint, Mandarin, Water

Price – Rs. 599.00 for 100ml. You can buy it here. Please use the one-time code CBD10 for a 10% discount.

Gunjadi Tailam

I was telling my husband, this is the grandma of the lot – Classical, Traditional and made with an age-old recipe from ancient Ayurvedic texts. The recipe is pure, unchanged with no added ingredients like essential oils that you’ve seen in the above 3 oils. I am used to the traditional Ayurvedic hair oils here in Kerala, and this one made me nostalgic; so if you are not used to such oils, you may find the smell too strong/herbal. Gunjadi Tailam is great for both the scalp and lengths. It helps in hair growth and fighting dandruff.

Ingredients – Sesame Oil, Bhringraj, Gunja (Abrus precatorius), Water

Price – Rs. 399.00 for 100ml. You can buy it here. Please use the one-time code CBD10 for a 10% discount.

Blog Comments

Hi ,
Following your blog over the last year. Well done! I am 52 and have only just discovered how to care for my curly hair. Been through the whole straight hair is better despite so many malayali women having curly hair.
I have question about hair oil please. Is the application to scalp and length of hair? Do you shampoo out completely afterwards? Many thanks

Hi Elizabeth 🙂 I have mentioned under each oil, where to use them. Yes I shampoo out the oil afterwards.
