Curl Up Hair Products Review – Shampoo, Conditioner, Curl Defining Cream

One of the few brands in India catered specifically for curly hair, I was really excited to try out Curl Up hair products!

Curl Up Curl Moisturising Shampoo

Ingredients after the first 5 to 8 ingredients are in negligible amounts and can be ignored if you are not trying to avoid any ingredient in particular – Read the Ingredients List, Not the Product Claims. I love the ingredients list. It’s filled with mild cleansers and frizz controlling ingredients. I am a bit wary about the need for Ethelyne glycol distearate as pearly looking products are usually high in pH.

CG Friendly: Yes
Performance:
+ Lathers and cleans well
+ Doesn’t dry out hair
– It is not the most moisturizing shampoo that I’ve used. That’s possibly due to the Ethelyne glycol distearate mentioned in the ingredient analysis.

Overall, I would say Curl Up Curl Moisturising Shampoo is a decent sulphate free shampoo in India.

Curl Up Curl Hydrating Conditioner

Description by Curl Up: We give you the best conditioner for dry hair that actually works! Our conditioner for curly hair consists of an ultra-rich and nourishing formula with Argan oil, Chia seed extract and flax seed extract which provides good slip thereby making it easy to detangle your curly locks. It secures moisture and strengthens curly hair to prevent breakage and split ends.

The ingredients looks quite good with a good amount of the Ingredients to Look for in a Conditioner.

CG Friendly: Yes
Performance:
+ Softens hair and melts tangles well
– It doesn’t fluff up like a good conditioner once you start detangling with it
– The slip is also not the best. I am surprised, because the ingredients look quite good. It may be because Quaternium-91 is higher than the cationic surfactant.

Curl Up Curl Hydrating Conditioner was an average/OK conditioner for me.

Performance:
+ Provides lightweight moisture without weighing down hair
+ Provides moderate hold
– It wasn’t enough on its own to hold my hair in humid weather. As you can see from the photo, my hair has become fuzzy and loose.

Curl Up Curl Defining Cream is a good cream to use on its own in comfortable weathers. In humid weathers, you would need to pair it with a hard hold gel.
