I had purchased The Body Shop Rain Forest Moisture Hair Butter around 2 years ago when I was trying the Curly Girl method and I wanted silicone free products that were available in India.

- No silicones, no parabens and no colourants.
- Use weekly or as required.
- For dry and damaged hair.
Price: 1095 INR for 200ml. You can buy it here.
Ingredient Analysis:
Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Cetyl Esters – emollients, Distearoylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate – Antistatic Agent, Fragrance , Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil , Glycerin- Humectant, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Oil , Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate – Sunscreen, Pentaclethra Macroloba Seed Oil, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid , Salicylic Acid, Citric Acid, Tocopherol – Preservatives.
There are some great oils in the ingredients list. The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter is also silicone and paraben free.
CG Friendly: Yes
Texture: A creamy white butter with average slip.
Smell: It’s a mix of a tropical, fruity and earthy (or clayey) smell. I love it.
Packaging: A short flat tub made of plastic
Performance:
Here’s how I apply conditioners – How to wash & condition curly hair and here is a post with my full curly hair care routine – My curly hair routine .
+ The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter conditions and detangles curly hair well. It can be used as a conditioner.
– But sadly that’s where it ends. It’s just like any other conditioner. It’s not rich enough to be called a butter. Usually the oils in hair butter leave my hair shiny and hydrated.
In short: The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter is an average buy. Nothing great as a hair butter or deep conditioner. Works like any other good conditioner.

the BUY link takes you to another site and brand… please hold some accountability for your site and verify your links.. this could be misleading people and also making them buy the wrong products…
You really need to update and upgrade your site.. its not user friendly at all and quite messy.. so request you to work on it as there are people regularly checking it

Thanks for pointing that out, I’ve changed it. Amazon may change their links and that’s not in my control. I hope you understand that it’s impossible for me to verify all the links in the blog everyday to see if they are still pointing to the right product.
“its not user friendly at all and quite messy” – Can you be specific so that I can see what can be fixed?
“Please hold some accountability for your site and verify your links / You really need to update and upgrade your site” – Kindly don’t have a demanding tone. I have a full time job and try my best to put up content that can help people in a way that’s possible to me. Instead of negatively criticising blindly, please give constructive suggestions if applicable.

I haven’t. I usually don’t try too many products marketed as “masks”. https://www.curlsandbeautydiary.com/deep-conditioning-curly-hair/

Hi Anjana!
Thank you for your review 🙂
I have recently chopped off my straightened hair and am left with shoulder length curly hair. Your blog has really helped me take a leap of faith and start focusing on embracing natural curls rather than straightening them.
However one issue i am facing is that in Singapore i rarely find products for curly hair 🙁
The only brand available here in bodyshop. I just wanted to check with you if you have tried the shea butter range of bodyshop? They have a conditioner and a mask which i have recently started using. It is okay. I just feel it is not enough for my high porosity hair.
Another issue could be not using any leave in, curl cream or gel. Do you happen to know any of these which i can find in Singapore?
Thanks a lot!

I haven’t tried that range Binita and unfortunately don’t know what’s available in Singapore. https://www.naturalisticproducts.co.uk has worldwide shipping – maybe that is an option?

Sure! Will see if they deliver 🙂 and hopefully there are no hefty delivery charges :P.
In the meantime, can i use my current conditioner (bodyshop sheabutter) for co wash and as leave in conditioner?
Also, on no wash days, at times i just wet my hair in shower and put some light oil either before or after shower. I usually feel my curls are refreshed after this. However, I have not seen this method in any of the CG blogs. Is it safe?

Hi Anjana,
Thanks for the words of encouragement!
I went ahead and used bodyshop shea butter conditioner as leave in. I used it on soaking wet hair and squished it with water for better absorption. I left it overnight for working.
Next morning i woke up with perfect curls but the hair feels a bit sticky.
Do you have any idea on what went wrong?

Hi Anjana!
I finally found a combination which is working for styling my hair! I am using LOC method in soaking wet hair.
1. Leave in conditioner: L’oreal Paris EverCurl Hydracharge Conditioner (https://www.lazada.sg/products/loreal-paris-evercurl-hydracharge-conditioner-i303442154-s536792839.html?spm=a2o42.redmart_search.list.1.262024b5oq7alR&search=1)
2. Oil: Parachute coconut hair oil (https://www.lazada.sg/products/parachute-coconut-oil-i303072510-s536348899.html?spm=a2o42.redmart_search.list.1.77411ec6GzFbL9&search=1)
3. Cream: Ginvera Olive Oil Hair Cream (https://www.fairprice.com.sg/product/ginvera-hair-cream-olive-oil-10137377)
P.S. the sticky feeling is not there if i use oil for styling instead of just leave-in and/or hair cream 🙂 Hope it helps 🙂
