I get requests for better recommendations in budget gels. Setwet, Enliven, Schwarzkopf and the like tend to be quite sticky. Could Alps Goodness Scrunching Gel be the answer you are looking for? 🙂

Ingredient Analysis:

• Water
• Propanediol – Emollient(softens hair), humectant
  Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) – One of the best film-formering polymers. But it absorbs water readily, thus making it tricky in humid or dry weather.
• Sugarcane extract – Humectant
• Citrus Peel extract – Thickener
• Lactic acid – pH adjuster, humectant
• Malic acid – pH adjuster, humectant
• Jojoba wax – Emollient, softens hair

Ingredients after the first 5 to 8 ingredients are in negligible amounts and can be ignored if you are not trying to avoid any ingredient in particular – Read the Ingredients List, Not the Product Claims.

Alps Goodness Scrunching Gel has film forming polymers for hold. Film forming gums are on the lower side which explains the lack of cast. It is high in humectants so care should be taken while using it in dry or humid climates . The gel also has a bit of hydrolysed protein.

Texture: It was a nice clear gel. I say “was” because after some months the product has become lumpy. The efficacy on hair remained unchanged though.
Fragrance: A light deodorant kind of smell, if that makes sense 😀

+ Provides body to hair, so this is great for fine, loose or limp hair
– It didn’t give much of a cast. Cast is preferred so that clumps have a protective coating as they are drying. It is also helpful to protect the curls till you are ready to break the cast.

Alps Goodness Scrunching Gel is a good gel if you are looking for a light-duty gel that gives light flowy curls. It is also great for those looking to give body to their hair.
