7 lip care product must haves

lip care products

Lip care has come a long way from just a basic lipbalm. With a myriad of options available in the market, here are 7 lip care product must haves that we should all use.

  1. Chapstick

Caudalie Lip Conditioner

A clear and light product when you need that little care for cold indoors or while you prep your lips to apply lip color. I love Caudalie Lip Conditioner. It is clear, light weight and lightly fragranced.

  1. Balm

Soultree Lotus & Kokum Butter Lip Balm

These are perfect when you need more than just a light swipe of moisture; for example on a dry windy day. I love Soultree Lotus & Kokum Butter Lip Balm. It is rich enough for my liking and smells great.

  1. Butter

The Body Shop Dragon Fruit Lip Butter NYX butter balm

These are the richest and contain high amounts of oils & waxes that repair the lips. These are perfect during winters or as a night treatment before bed. I love Dragon Fruit Lip Butter by The Body Shop. It was a bit gritty initially. But now it’s creamy and buttery and dense. I also like NYX butter balm (currently in pannacotta). It is extremely buttery, slightly tinted and comes in a tube making it oh-so-convenient.

  1. Tinted balm

Burt’s Bees tinted balm Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm

Your chapstick married your lipstick to produce this baby. The care of a chapstick and the color of a lipstick (though not as pigmented) in one. This is perfect if you want colour on your lips that is not highly pigmented. I love Burt’s Bees tinted balm (currently in petunia), which is silky soft with a slight hint of tint and Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm which is slightly greasy but has a good color payoff.

  1. Oils

Nyaasa Almond oil

Lipsticks and tinted balms sure do hide our lip flaws, but we all want even toned natural lips. Oils like Kumkumadi oil & Almond oil are amazing at reducing pigmentation. Apply a thin film and leave it overnight. But you have to be consistent for at least 4 weeks before results show. This one is by Nyaasa.

  1. SPF balm

Natio Moisturising Lip Balm SPF 30+

When SPF 15 in your regular chapstick is just not enough, we need a balm created specifically for sun protection. Sure SPF 15 is good enough for your regular day but if you are going to spend hours in the sun, use this baby. I love the Natio Moisturising Lip Balm SPF 30+. It is clear, light and comes with a slightly strong smell.

  1. Lip scrub

Forest Essentials Cane Sugar Lip Scrub

We have face scrubs, body scrubs, foot scrubs. How can we ignore our oh-so-delicate lips? Exfoliate as and when you feel the need to, and definitely before applying lip colors. I adore the Forest Essentials Cane Sugar Lip Scrub. It has fine grains of sugar which perfectly scrub lips without hurting them. And it smells citrusy and divine. I could eat it!
