I’ve been asked very often about what I do to get my hair growing so fast. In my post on 7 ways to grow healthy hair, I had mentioned about some nutrients that will help you with healthy hair. Though genetics plays the most important role above all, nutrients can affect hair health to a great degree.
No products like shampoos or hair masks that claim to increase hair growth work (other than those prescribed by a doctor). Those products work on the outside – they cannot seep into the hair follicles (which is where growth takes place). Include the following nutrients in your diet and you should be starting to see results in a few months! Remember that consistency is the key 🙂 You can always look out for other sources for the below nutrients.
Hair loss : Protein – Protein is the building block of hair. Without enough protein, hair can get brittle and weak. I have egg whites, chia seeds and pumpkin seeds.
Hair loss : Biotin – Too little biotin can cause brittle hair and hair loss. Almonds & eggs are rich in biotin.
Dull hair : Omega-3 – These are essential for scalp health and hair shine. I include chia seeds and flaxseed oil and take omega 3 supplements. Fish and walnuts are also a good source of Omega 3 fatty acids.
Hair loss : Iron – Hair follicles are nourished with nutrients by blood vessels. And iron is important for optimum blood health. I like spinach and broccoli. I also take dexorange syrup to fight anemia (especially before my periods start). Soyabean and sesame seeds are also a good source of iron.

Hi Anjana,
I discovered your blog a couple days back and cannot get over it. It’s like a one-stop solution for all of us who want to embrace our curls. I started my journey of embracing my hair roughly over a year back and one major problem I have seen is dandruff. I feel since I dont comb my hair, my scalp gets really flaky and I now have a severe dandruff problem.
Do you have any ideas or suggestions that could help?
Thanks!
Anjana

Hii Anjana,
I’ve gone through your blog n love your hair. I recently suffered from hair loss and right now with good diet n oil treatments n exercise m growing it back. So in this process I’ve stopped using store bought shampoos n conditioners n use soapnut hibiscus mixture as shampoo n wind it up with a green tea rinse. But it gets super frizzy n absolutely dull that’s when I started searching for a good curly hair routine n holy smokes I found yours 🙂 that moment when u said u don’t fuss about shampoos is when I know I can trust your knowledge completely. But my biggest hesitation is to use a conditioner as leave-in n applying gel. After going through a bad phase of hair fall m sceptical about everything now! Please lemme know if leave in n gel n diffuser do any sort of damage !!!
